Leadership

a business-critical issue.

Every interaction between people shapes the organisation – and the business.

When leaders don't take the time to truly see their employees, their customers and themselves, a business risk is created that rarely shows up in the numbers – but is always felt in the organisation. When we don't take the time to get to know each other, we tend to lose the trust, ownership and engagement that are essential for people to give their best.

The everyday reality of leadership is not built by strategy documents. It is built in the moments where one person meets another. Every interaction is either a step towards – or away from – the results the organisation is striving for.

"See the Human" is a leadership programme built on Jan Carlzon's proven philosophy, designed to turn that insight into real behavioural change.

THE MOMENTS NO ONE MEASURES

Organisations invest in strategy, technology and processes. But they often overlook what actually determines whether the strategy lands: the quality of the interaction between leader and employee, every single day.

When these interactions lack presence, curiosity and trust, something concrete happens: employees withdraw. Accountability decreases and engagement drops. Performance erodes – moment by moment, without anyone being able to put their finger on why. This is not an HR problem. It is a business problem – and it is rooted in how leaders meet people every day.

Not investing in leadership costs more than investing in it.

High staff turnover, slower execution, unresolved conflicts, weak ownership and customer interactions that never reach their full potential – all of this has a price. A price that is directly affected by whether leaders have the ability to truly see the person in front of them.

This is not a question of personality. It is a question of training, awareness and the genuine desire to turn insight into real behaviour.

What is "See the Human"?

See the Human is a cohesive development journey for leaders – designed to take them from insight to action to real behavioural change.

We begin with an introductory session that sets the context and creates relevance for the group. This is followed by five modules and concludes with a follow-up and summary session. Before, during and after, we track development and impact over time.

MODULE 1:
See the Human as a Valuable Resource

Explore how to create an environment where people feel seen, beyond functions and business goals. And how to nurture their human qualities, while not losing focus of the results.

MODULE 2:
See the Human in Myself

Dive deeper into yourself. Reflect on what motivates and engages you, and in which situations you feel and perform at your very best. Self-awareness as the foundation for presence, courage and courageous leadership.

MODULE 3:
See the Human in an Employee

Focus on how to better understand each employee's unique needs and drives and build meaningful relationships. How leadership lands with another person – and what determines whether that person steps up or steps back.

MODULE 4:
See the Human in a Customer

Every interaction shapes the image of your organisation. How you meet the customer as a human being, not just as a case to handle. Reflect on how to develop a deeper understanding of your customers' needs and what to do to demonstrate genuine care.

MODULE 5:
See the Human in Difficult Conversations

The ability to maintain connection, clarity and care – even when the conversation is uncomfortable. Learn how to deal with challenges and conflicts, and look beyond your own prejudices. Examine situations with empathy and foster positive and constructive dialogues.

MODULE 6:
My New Leadership - Conclusion

Decide what kind of leader you are becoming and what you want to lead by. Translate insights into a leadership practice you are prepared to commit to and implement diligently over time.

The 5M structure that drives change

Every module is built on 5M – a simple, practical method that takes leaders from reflection to real behavioural change.

Moment – What happened?

Mirror – What happened inside me?

Meaning – What does this say about how I lead?

Move – What will I do differently next time?

Modification – What changed after I tried it?

Participants bring real situations from their own everyday lives. The work is concrete, coaching-based and directly connected to what is happening in the organisation.

MANAGEMENT team DEVELOPMENT

Strengthen your management team – from the inside out

A management team that truly sees each other creates something no strategy can replace: trust, ownership and a shared ability to lead the organisation and its people through change.

See the Human for management teams is a tailored development process where the programme's philosophy and structure are applied directly to the dynamics, challenges and relationships within your specific group.

WHAT THE WORK CAN INCLUDE:

  • Shared foundation – a common understanding of what it means to lead with presence, trust and human awareness, and why it is business-critical.

  • The team's own moments – working with real situations and patterns from your everyday reality: how decisions are made, how tensions are handled, how you meet each other and your organisation.

  • Individual and collective reflection – through the 5M structure, both individual leadership behaviours and group dynamics become visible, with a focus on what strengthens or holds back your shared performance.

Every management team is unique. We always start from your reality and your goals.

WHY "SEE THE HUMAN" IS DIFFERENT

Proven in practice, not in theory. The programme is built on Jan Carlzon's leadership philosophy – developed through decades of exceptional results, most notably at SAS, where he transformed a company in crisis into a global benchmark for customer- and service-driven business. This is proven practice, not theory.

Grounded in real moments. Leaders don't work with generic models. They work with the situations that actually shape everyday life: tensions, feedback, pressure, conflict and customer interactions. That is where leadership becomes visible.

Systemically designed. The programme is built for all levels of leadership – from senior leaders to team managers. Engagement and culture are shaped by how leaders lead every day, throughout the entire organisation.

Built for behavioural change. Insight alone does not change organisations. Repeated behaviour does. The programme is structured so that new leadership habits take root in everyday life – and stay there.

"Every time I meet a person and listen to them, I leave richer than when I came...

...I've picked up something, a story or an insight, maybe a feeling or a thought. If instead I had only talked about myself, I would have left empty-handed."

Jan Carlzon

"A single, sincere question from JAN CARLZON, when I was starting at 23, changed how I see leadership. He taught me that questioning isn’t defiance, it’s responsibility. He showed me that leadership means listening deeply, asking the right questions, and trusting even the youngest voice in the room."

Stefan Krook, Co-founder of Kivra,
serial entrepreneur

“In "See the Human", it becomes so clear how everything is connected... potential unlocks when people feel seen and valued."

Mireille Andersson, Senior Advisor,
ex Country Director

TMF Group

“The lessons I learned from "Moments of Truth" written 40 years ago this year, built the foundation of my approach to management. Each and every time I progressed to the next level, I revisited Jan's words. Upon the occasion of becoming the CEO, I read his book for the fifth time.”

Shinichi Inoue,
President and CEO
Al Nippon Airways Co. Ltd.

BASED ON customer-focused and human-centred leadership

Jan Carlzon dedicated his entire working life to demonstrating what many organisations still overlook: when people feel seen, trusted and valued, they do their best work – and teams become stronger than the sum of their parts.

As CEO, he transformed SAS from crisis to competitiveness and defined leadership as something fundamentally human. Far from complex organisational models, his message is about the everyday reality of leadership: the moments where one person meets another.

See the Human translates that philosophy into a modern, practical programme – designed for the pressure, complexity and pace that leaders face today.
